About us
Staka is an Icelandic chamber choir based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The choir was founded in the autumn of 2004 and has held a number of well received concerts in Denmark, Sweden, France and Iceland. Staka has close connections within the Danish “North Atlantic” choral tradition (Greenland, Iceland and the Faroes) as well as participating in festivals with other Icelandic choirs from around Europe.
Staka consists of about 16 singers, mainly Icelandic, most of whom have sang in choirs from childhood. Many are educated singers, or have musical training. Our repertoire is a mixture from various time periods, but has a special focus on newer a capella choral compositions. One of Staka´s goals is to present the Icelandic music culture in Denmark.
